Do not install WP 2.8 yet

There seem to be a few issues with the new 2.8 release of WP that are affecting a number of themes and plugins out there. Please report any issues with LivingOS themes in the forums and we will try and resolve them.

You can see on the WordPress forums that this is not an isolated problem.

Make sure you follow WPs upgrade procedure, taking full backups before moving to WP 2.8. My advice would be to wait a short while before upgrading, to allow some of these problems to be resolved more fully.

UPDATE 18/6/09
I have upgraded to 2.8 in a number of places and have not had any issues so far. So backup and upgrade.

UPDATE 20/18/09 – WP 2.8 is definitely breaking things and user should not upgrade. Stick to 2.7.1 for now.
UPDATE 2.8.1 is now out which works fine!

I just updated 104 WP blogs and publications I manage to 2.8 two days ago (I use a script to do it). I’ve seen exactly ONE issue: The old Redirection plugin will completely break sites. Just update the plugin to fix.

    I wouldn’t wait – go for it.

I’ve updated and my redesigned ViewPort theme lost it’s basic navigation ?!

Since I’ve updated WP to 2.8 in other blog of mine successfully – I didn’t make a backup. May be I’ll try some tweak to restore my old WP version.

Sorry but WP 2.8 is a mess. All sorts of of things are brekaing with it. Stick to 2.7.1 for now.

Since upgrading to WP 2.8 I promise to not upgrade again until checking with this site.
    1) The front page of the theme settings are not working properly and can not be saved properly.
    2) The word Carousel now appears in every Carousel post.
3)Can not choose any blog category except all

Yes, it works in the beta release of 2.8.1 though! You could download the beta or wait a few more days for final release.

I must say this is the first time something like this has happened with a release of WP for me. Upgrades are usually pretty painless, or at least there until this last one.

To check here before upgrading your Mu theme is certainly a good measure to save you any potential problems.
