WordPress 2.9 Released

The next release of WordPress has just landed and includes quite an array of new features and changes. New releases of WordPress can often break a theme or plugin, so please get in touch if you experience any problems. The theme previews are all now running on WordPress 2.9.

Mu Theme 0.2.7 Released

Some updates to the Mu theme now available to download. Login to the client download area to download latest version of the theme.

In Version 0.2.7:
- fixed option page sidebar not showing up
- added ordering to thumbnail book marks on front page (see links bar on options page)
- tweaks to menu css to fix multiline entries and item width issues

Tested on WP 2.8.4.

WordPress 2.8.1 Released

Users will be please to hear that the maintenance release of WP is now available. 2.8 caused quite a few problems, including with some users of the Mu theme. If you have been holding off on your WP upgrade, then we can confirm that issues with Mu on 2.8 have been resolved in 2.8.1. See forum for more info.

But before you upgrade:

back up your database
back up your files in wp-content and any other custom files

WP recently introduced an automated backup process, but that doesn’t mean something can’t go wrong!

There seem to be a few issues with the new 2.8 release of WP that are affecting a number of themes and plugins out there. Please report any issues with LivingOS themes in the forums and we will try and resolve them.

You can see on the WordPress forums that this is not an isolated problem.

Make sure you follow WPs upgrade procedure, taking full backups before moving to WP 2.8. My advice would be to wait a short while before upgrading, to allow some of these problems to be resolved more fully.

UPDATE 18/6/09
I have upgraded to 2.8 in a number of places and have not had any issues so far. So backup and upgrade.
UPDATE 20/18/09 – WP 2.8 is definitely breaking things and user should not upgrade. Stick to 2.7.1 for now.
UPDATE 2.8.1 is now out which works fine!
